Bre Drake
Holistic Dog Health Educator
Bre’s life has always revolved around dogs.
From early morning fishing trips to quiet miles wandering through the woods, her golden retrievers were never just pets. They were companions, adventure partners, and constant teachers about what it means to live fully and honestly.
For years, Bre followed conventional veterinary advice, believing she was doing everything “right.” Premium kibble, routine vaccinations, monthly preventatives, and every recommendation offered by trusted professionals.
Then things began to unravel.
In 2023, her senior golden retriever Ann began struggling with arthritis. When the solution offered was daily pain medication for the rest of her life, something in Bre’s intuition told her there had to be another way. That moment led her to a Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) veterinarian and opened the door to an entirely different understanding of canine health.
Within weeks of changing Ann and her younger dog Skip’s diet and beginning to address deeper imbalances in their bodies, Bre saw changes she couldn’t ignore. Their energy returned. Their comfort improved. Their spark came back.
But the real turning point came the following year.
In 2024, Ann was diagnosed with oral cancer and given only two months to live. Refusing to accept that timeline without exploring every option, Bre sought guidance from a holistic veterinarian and began supporting Ann with nutrition, herbs, and natural therapies. Ann went on to live nine full, joyful, medication-free months beyond that diagnosis.
Two months after Ann’s diagnosis, Skip was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma.
His life ended quickly, and losing him at just eight and a half years old shattered Bre’s world, but it also ignited a deeper calling. She could no longer ignore the question that had been growing louder in her mind:
Why are so many beloved dogs getting sick?
Bre threw herself into learning. She completed certification in holistic pet health coaching and immersed herself in research spanning nutrition, immunology, herbs, homeopathy, environmental health, and holistic veterinary medicine.
But her greatest education came from experience.
Bre holds an MBA and a BS in accounting, and spent years working in photography and design — skills that unexpectedly prepared her for the role she now fills, translating complex health concepts into clear, practical guidance that dog owners can actually apply.
Today, Bre is the voice behind @tailswellhealth and the host of the Love Your Dogs podcast, where she challenges conventional assumptions about dog care and encourages owners to think more deeply about the choices they make for their animals.
Her approach centers on a simple but often overlooked truth: dogs are still animals.
They are designed for sunlight, movement, fresh food, dirt under their paws, and lives that allow them to express their natural instincts. Health doesn’t come from micromanagement or endless interventions, even “natural” ones. It comes from building strong terrain and allowing the body to do what it was designed to do.
Bre isn’t a veterinarian, and she’s transparent about that. What she offers instead is lived experience, relentless curiosity, holistic training, and a deep commitment to helping dog parents see their animals through a different lens.
Her mission is to help people raise resilient, vibrant dogs by returning to principles that are simpler, and more natural, than we’ve been led to believe.
